IEEE is the world's largest technical professional society -- promoting the development and application of electrotechnology and allied sciences for the benefit of humanity, the advancement of the profession, and the well-being of our members. It fosters the development of standards that often become national and international standards.

STRUCTURE:

IEEE is organized into:

-333 local sections in 10 geographic regions;

-more than 2,080 chapters comprised of local members with similar technical interests;

-38 societies and 7 technical councils that compose 10 technical divisions;

-nearly 2000 student branches at colleges and universities in 80 countries;

-more than 530 student branch chapters.

IEEE Major Boards

Six subordinate boards govern major areas of IEEE interest. Each has an elected volunteer leader.
